Jean Anderson‘s collection HUMAN BEING SONGS: Northern Stories, published in 2017, was a finalist for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Prize in Short Fiction from BkMk Press in 2015 and 2016. Awards to Anderson’s fiction include a PEN Syndicated Fiction Selection, an Individual Artist Award from the Alaska State Council on the Arts and a visiting writer’s residency from The Island Institute in Sitka. She’s lived in Fairbanks since 1966 and holds BA and MFA from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she taught for nearly ten years. Anderson’s first collection of fiction is IN EXTREMIS & Other Alaska Stories. She co-edited INROADS, an anthology collecting the work of ASCA’s early fellowship writers. Her fiction has appeared in Chariton Review, Prairie Schooner, Kalliope, Alaska Quarterly Review, Cirque, Permafrost, Alaska Women Speak, and elsewhere. She enjoys being a part of Alaska’s literary community.
